Information we use

  • property addresses submitted for permit searches and report generation;
  • basic usage events such as page views, free-search outcomes, checkout starts, professional credit redemptions, report opens and print/PDF actions;
  • state, jurisdiction and permit-count information used for aggregate service analytics;
  • order records including amount, currency, product, status and Stripe transaction identifiers;
  • the customer email address supplied during professional checkout or returned by Stripe during a report purchase;
  • professional search-credit entitlements, balances and usage records associated with a customer email address;
  • hashed browser-access tokens, hashed recovery codes and limited timestamps used to provide and protect professional account recovery and access;
  • private report access timestamps and identifiers used to deliver and protect reports;
  • transactional email delivery information needed to send professional access and recovery-code confirmations;
  • limited technical and security information needed to prevent abuse and diagnose failures.

CheckHarbour does not intentionally store full payment-card details. Card payment information is handled by Stripe. Raw professional browser-access tokens are issued to the customer's browser rather than intentionally stored in readable form in the service database.

Why we use information

Provide searches, professional access and purchased reports

We process submitted property addresses, order, entitlement, professional-access and report-access information to provide the service you request, maintain search-credit balances, restore professional access and fulfil purchases.

Send service communications

For professional search-credit purchases, we may send a transactional confirmation email containing the reusable access code and information needed to restore the purchased credits. These are service messages connected to the purchase, not prospect marketing emails.

Operate, secure and improve CheckHarbour

We use limited first-party analytics and operational information to understand service demand, conversion, coverage patterns, failures and report usage. The analytics implementation is designed to avoid storing customer IP addresses or detailed behavioral profiles.

Accounting, fraud prevention and disputes

Relevant order, entitlement and payment records may be retained where reasonably necessary for fulfilment, accounting, tax, fraud prevention, chargebacks, disputes and legal obligations.

Public permit information

The service uses licensed access to aggregated public building-permit records. Permit records may include names of owners or contractors and other information published by the source authority. CheckHarbour does not control or amend the underlying public record.

Who information may be shared with

  • Stripe for secure checkout and payment processing;
  • Cloudflare for hosting, serverless functions, database/storage and security infrastructure;
  • PermitStack to retrieve the permit records requested for an address;
  • Resend to deliver transactional professional-access confirmation emails;
  • professional advisers, regulators, courts or law-enforcement bodies where required or reasonably necessary by law.

We do not sell customer personal information to advertisers.

Retention

  • Private report links are designed to expire after 30 days.
  • Professional entitlement, usage and recovery-access records are retained as reasonably needed to maintain purchased balances, restore access, prevent misuse and resolve account or payment queries.
  • Order and payment records are retained as reasonably required for fulfilment, accounting, fraud prevention and disputes.
  • Aggregate analytics and operational records are periodically reviewed and retained only while useful for operating and improving the service.

Your requests

Privacy rights vary by location. If you want to ask what personal information CheckHarbour holds about you, request correction or deletion where applicable, or raise a privacy concern, contact admin@checkharbour.co.uk. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request. Some information may need to be retained where required for accounting, fraud prevention, dispute handling or the continued provision of purchased professional credits.

We may update this notice when the service, suppliers or legal requirements change. The current version and update date will remain available on this page.
